Support for local artists - How the Lantern can make a difference
The Lantern aims to support local artists as much as possible by offering the venue at a very low price to hire and often we will negotiate a ticket share for more established companies or if we think we can offer more support.  All events at the Lantern will be marketed via our website newsletter, facebook and local media and individual advice will be available to artists at all times.  We also offer advise on marketing their productions and will assist as much as possible in the project planning for less experienced companies/groups.

We are currently talking to a number of artists in the hope of setting up a writers group that will bring together writers, directors and performers, in the few short months we have been here, we have received numerous requests from writers who would love the opportunity to get their work staged or read by a group of actors.  We also receive a considerable about of requests from young writer/directors who are considering using their savings to produce plays to gain expierience in the field.  We offer advice on where they can find information on funding and also help them with their project plan.

The Lantern Progress so far
Since the Lantern opened in November 2009 it is steadily being discovered by local artists and theatre groups who want to perform here.  There is certainly a buzz about the place at the moment and people love it in here.  We have had a number of events at The Lantern over the past few months, presented by various community groups and theatre companies, all have taken a shine to our intimate venue.  Thank you for all your support!
