The Lanterns monthly comedy night returns with another fantastic line up
Compere Adam Rushton is joined by Danny Sutcliff, Steve Bugeja and Headliner Mark Rough
Compered by Adam Rushton - ‘fantastic compare’ Patrick Monahan
A Rush of Laughter @ The Lantern is quickly becoming Liverpool’s number 1 comedy event. With top class acts at affordable prices A Rush of Laughter is an unmissable night. Audiences are growing month by month as satisfied audience return and bring along their friends. This months lineup includes
Danny Sutcliff - Leicester Mercury Comedian Of The Year Nominee 2012
Winner of Rock Radio’s ‘One Night Stand Up’ Competition
Funhouse Comedy Champion Of Champions 2011
“One liners Jimmy Carr would be proud of” Chortle.co.uk
Steve Bugeja - ‘sparky, charismatic, likeable. Young, but a natural comic. ‘One to watch’ certainly. – London Is Funny
This months headlining act is Mark Rough. Unbelievably celebrating 13 years as a Stand up Comic. Mark Rough, the self styled Mackem Motormouth began his career, like most on the comedy club circuit playing in rooms above pubs. This is where he mastered his breakneck style. With a massive gags per minute ratio he is not one for the comedy purists but he certainly is a crowd pleaser. Observational, modern, fresh and above all side splittingly funny, Mark has seen his act work all over the world with seasons in Dubai, Cyprus, Spain and the Canary Islands
Hailing from Sunderland but based in the West Yorkshire Mark has branched out into more mainstream venues, after dinner speaking, corporate functions and small theatres, yet he has never forgotten his comedy club roots and tries to play his favourites during the year.
Telling gags can be easy, Roughy makes it look difficult! With story after story throwing out punchlines galore his fast paced set seems to fly over in minutes.
Mark has released two DVDs “Have You Ever Had It Blue?” and “Bigmouth Strikes Again” to critical acclaim
“Like a Weaeside Billy Connolly…...” Yorkshire Pos

A two handed version by Stephen Lowe’s original adaptation of Tressell’s classic book.
Featuring Neil Gore and Fine Time Fontayne
Directed by Louise Townsend
This hilarious, fast-paced adaptation of Robert Tressell’s classic book shares with its audience a year in the life of a group of painters and decorators as they renovate ‘The Cave’, a three-storey town house, for Mayor Sweater. It traces their hardships and struggles for survival in a complacentand stagnating Edwardian England. These workers are the ‘philanthropists’ who throw themselves into back-breaking work for poverty wages in order to generate profit for their masters.
This enduring and absorbing classic story is brought to life by two hugely talented and experienced performers using comedy routines and entertaining songs of the Music Hall with a few surprises along the way.
